Please listen we are not talking about Martin Luther King or Mahatma Gandhi, or X Y Z, we are not concerned with these people at all—– they have their ideas, there conditioning, there political ambitions, we are not concerned what any of that. we are concerned with what we are? you and I human beings we are. as human beings we are violent, we are conditioned, through traditions, through propaganda, culture, to create the opposite we use the opposite when it suits to us, and we do not use it when it does not suit us. we use it politically and spirituality in different ways. but what we now saying is that when the mind wants to stay with the violence understand it completely, tradition and habit come in and interfere. they say,’ you must have the ideal of non-violence‘ . now there is the fact and there is tradition .now my question is how the mind to break away from the tradition in order to give all this attention to violence? that is the question? have you understood it? there is the fact that I am violent, and there is a tradition which says I must not be. now I will not look at the violence but at the tradition only. why does it interfere? why does it come in? my concern is not understanding violence but to understand the interfering of tradition have you got it?——- J.KRISHANAMURTI.
